II enjoy selecting subjects from my everyday surroundings.  Those subjects may be naturally occurring, such as landscapes, or resulting from the actions of people.  That sounds a little mystic, but when you view my photographs I feel you will understand my visual relationship with those subjects.  What is not so mystic are those photographs of sunsets, sunrises, trees and flowers.  Viewed there, from my mind's eye, is the beauty of our world.  From nature I take only a fraction of a second, but those little tidbits of time are what I wish to share with others.

Watercolor painting and acrylic painting are also interests that I enjoy.  On this site I have added some of my acrylic paintings.  My watercolor paintings are of traditional scenes.

I am a native of Kansas.  Born in Dodge City as my parents raised crops and livestock near Kalvesta, Kansas.  As times changed for my parents, we moved to Great Bend where I grew up enjoying the opportunities and freedoms of a small but thriving town.  I attended Hutchinson Junior College and then Ft. Hays State University.  Before completing my degree from Ft. Hays I served four years in the Army and at that time, with a great good fortune, married Kay.  I returned to Ft. Hays completing my undergraduate business degree, but staying on there to attend graduate art school.

In 1972 I began my career in public service as an employee of the Kansas Insurance Department.  From 1995 to 2007 I was the Executive Director of the Kansas Health Care Stabilization Fund.  In October of 2007 I retired from pubic service and began organizing and cataloging my photographs and began painting on a more regular basis.  The activities which evolved in to developing this web site with the assistance and participation of my older brother John.

Bob and Kay raised their three children in Topeka, Kansas.  We have eight grandchildren -- two in Florida, two in Wichita and four in Topeka.

Please contact me with any comments or questions you may have regarding my photographs or other related matters.
