population of about 150, is located in north east Kansas. Most of
the stores have been converted into antique or country gift stores.

Baker
Wetlands, near Lawrence, Kansas.
This photograph was taken in early 2008. Baker wetlands is a nature
preserve and is very unique. Baker Wetlands is part of the Wakarusa
River bottomlands. The north half of the site is wetland. The south part
consists of riparian woodland, old cropland, and two plots of native
prairie totaling 45 acres. The
prairie areas contain prairie cordgrass, eastern gamagrass, switchgrass,
Indiangrass, big bluestem, swamp milkweed, compass plant, Jerusalem
artichoke, and Maximilian sunflower. Smallmouth salamanders breed here in
March. Amphibians include the northern crawfish frog western chorus frogs
and leopard frogs. Many times the area is dry, but when water is
plentiful, so are the rails, ducks, shorebirds, and herons. Songbirds
include marsh wrens, sedge wrens, swamp sparrows, LeConte's sparrows, and
common yellowthroats.
The print size offered is
approximately 6"wide by 18" high and can be matted for 12" x 24" frame.

Geese
Fly From Lake Shawnee: These Canadian geese
winter over at Lake Shawnee. This photograph was taken following a
mid December 2007 ice and snow fall.
Several

December Sunrise at Lake Shawnee,
taken on a cold morning while the sun was rising. This lake provides
a fantastic recreation area that is just minutes from downtown Topeka.
It is a favorite place for many photographers to take scenic lake
pictures, high school portraits, family gatherings and nature.

Sunset At Lake Shawnee, Topeka,
Kansas -- Winter sunsets add a dash of color to the
horizon. I usually like wait for those few days when there winter
puffy clouds to be colored by the sunset. On this day there were
some clouds near the horizon but as the sun set most of those clouds
cleared. If you look closely at this picture you can see the very
few that remain. The 8"x10" print that I recently printed is
striking with a steel gray mat. I believe a print of that size will
be a nice addition to a personal collection. It should also make a
very nice print to mat and frame in a larger size.

Stone Barn With Red Tile Roof,
east of
Topeka, Kansas.
Located between two housing development
areas just to the east of Topeka is this grand stone barn. Look closely
and see the roof of the old silo is undergoing restoration. The adjoining
farm house is of similar stone construction. This print will be a very
prominent point of interest when it is matted, framed and carefully placed
in your home or office.

Hedge Post Fence.
In parts of Kansas where the limestone is not as easily
quarried, fence post from Osage Orange Hedge trees is often used for
fencing. This ending post was once a gate post as evidenced from the
gate hinge bar near the the top of the fence.

Wheat Field With Post Rock Fence.
This post rock fence is at the west side of the Union
Valley Cemetery in Lincoln County, Kansas. Each post rock is
approximately seven feet long, with about four feet of the post rock
above ground level.

Just Down The Road And Turn Left Into Our Drive,
near Lawrence Kansas.
The visual presence of this neatly maintained farmstead
seems to welcome you as you drive down the old country road. Slightly
rolling hills add interest to scene. This farmstead includes a stone
barn with a Forepaugh Circus history. (Google Forepaughs Circus
for more information.)
Note the unusual dimensions of this print offering. It is intended to be
used with other smaller framed art work. Also notice that the limited

Post Rock Fence.
In the Smoky Hill area of north central Kansas you will
find the hand quarried limestone fence posts. This post rock fence is
near Linclon, Kansas. Cattle are frequently seen grazing on the prairie
grass land. As shown here, the fence line is well maintained with barbed
wire stretched until it is tight and straight.

Silver Storage Bins.
This style of storage bins was popular in the 1940s and
1950s. When we were children, we often called these corn cribs, but we
never knew the exact purpose of this style of bin. This photograph
clearly depicts the browns and the flat land that many people associate
with Kansas. Here there is evidence of the careful arrangements of the
bins and the large white cattle shed.
