Kansas Abstract:
8" x 38" Acrylic painting on rice and tissue papers over wooden frame.
The origin of this method is from my post graduate art classes at Ft. Hays
State University in the 1970-71. Textures are from the process of
preparing the paper surface so that it is durable and the applied heavy
acrylic material and paint.
2010 Winter Snow at Lake Shawnee:
A photograph that will please when framed and exhibited in your home or
office. Limbs and branches take on the appearance of a winter black
and white abstract with the appearance of a bit of color in the lower
left-hand corner. Kansas
Bluestem Tall Grass: This field of native
bluestem tall grass is located south-east of Topeka near the little town
of Berryton. When I asked how the field was cleared I was told it is
usually burnt off in the early spring. Last year was an exception as
it was cut and bailed and then very lightly tilled. Several
print sizes will be available, the price for an approximately 5" x
16" print is $50. Please email me if you wish a different size print. Just let me know what size print you are interested in purchasing. I will respond with additional information about availability, delivery time and price.
New format!
During the last year I have returned to painting. In the near future
I will be introducing some of my recent original acrylic paintings. I hope you enjoy the paintings and the new photographs.

Museo matt paper is available for $60.00. Other print sizes are

Country Road --
Simply Kansas. White gravel roads cut through tree lined creek
areas, with February grass fields bound the roads that will lead and
meander toward the cotton brushed clouds seem to be floating in the deep
blue skies..
Country Gift Shop at Barnes, Kansas. This small town is located in north east Kansas. Most of the stores have been converted into antique or country gift stores. This photograph and the following one would make a nice display of rural Kansas small town scenes.
Antique Shop Chairs at Barnes, Kansas. This small town, with a population of about 150, is located in north east Kansas. Most of the stores have been converted into antique or country gift stores. This photograph and the above photograph would make a nice display of rural Kansas small town scenes.
Old Barn with Shed on SE Tecumseh Road. This old barn has been maintained as part of an up-dated farm/homestead. It is located close to the road. The textures and details of the old wood, roof and tile silo can be enjoyed. This photograph looks very nice in maroon inner mat with wide tan outer mat. The approximate 8"x15" with these mats could be framed in a 12"x24" mahogany wood frame.
Baker
Wetlands, near Lawrence, Kansas.
This photograph was taken in early 2008. Baker wetlands is a nature
preserve and is very unique. Baker Wetlands is part of the Wakarusa
River bottomlands. The north half of the site is wetland. The south part
consists of riparian woodland, old cropland, and two plots of native
prairie totaling 45 acres. The
prairie areas contain prairie cordgrass, eastern gamagrass, switchgrass,
Indiangrass, big bluestem, swamp milkweed, compass plant, Jerusalem
artichoke, and Maximilian sunflower. Smallmouth salamanders breed here in
March. Amphibians include the northern crawfish frog western chorus frogs
and leopard frogs. Many times the area is dry, but when water is
plentiful, so are the rails, ducks, shorebirds, and herons. Songbirds
include marsh wrens, sedge wrens, swamp sparrows, LeConte's sparrows, and
common yellowthroats.
December Sunrise at Lake Shawnee,
taken on a cold morning while the sun was rising. This lake provides
a fantastic recreation area that is just minutes from downtown Topeka.
It is a favorite place for many photographers to take scenic lake
pictures, high school portraits, family gatherings and nature.
Sunset At Lake Shawnee, Topeka, Kansas -- Winter sunsets add a dash of color to the horizon. I usually like wait for those few days when there winter puffy clouds to be colored by the sunset. On this day there were some clouds near the horizon but as the sun set most of those clouds cleared. If you look closely at this picture you can see the very few that remain. The 8"x10" print that I recently printed is striking with a steel gray mat. I believe a print of that size will be a nice addition to a personal collection. It should also make a very nice print to mat and frame in a larger size.
Stone Barn With Red Tile Roof,
east of
Topeka, Kansas.
Located between two housing development
areas just to the east of Topeka is this grand stone barn. Look closely
and see the roof of the old silo is undergoing restoration. The adjoining
farm house is of similar stone construction. This print will be a very
prominent point of interest when it is matted, framed and carefully placed
in your home or office.
Order one of the following
larger size prints from the photographer Bob Hayes
Stone Farm Home and Barn, same
location as above. This print would be a nice companion to the
Stone Barn With Red Tile Roof print. Prints from this photograph
will be in an open edition with all prints signed.
Early Morning Fog After Snow,
taken at Lake Shawnee, Topeka, Kansas. An unusual
scene following a light snowfall produced the soft gentle uniform
lighting.
Hedge Post Fence.
In parts of Kansas where the limestone is not as easily
quarried, fence post from Osage Orange Hedge trees is often used for
fencing. This ending post was once a gate post as evidenced from the
gate hinge bar near the the top of the fence. Several
print sizes will be available, the price for a print that is approximately
16" x 20" is $100. Please email me if you wish a different size print.
